Provision of Community-Based Drinking Water and Sanitation)
Community-Based Water Supply and Sanitation (PAMSIMAS) is one of the programs implemented by the Government of Indonesia with the support of the World Bank, this program is implemented in rural and suburban areas.
The Pamsimas program aims to increase the number of facilities for underserved citizens including low-income people in rural and peri-urban areas. With Pamsimas, it is hoped that they can access sustainable drinking water and sanitation services and improve the application of clean and healthy living behaviors. The implementation of this program is in order to support the achievement of MDG targets (the water and sanitation sector) through mainstreaming and expanding community-based development approaches.
The Pamsimas I program was implemented in 2008 to 2012 in 110 districts / cities from 15 provinces. Pamsimas I was successfully applied to 6,845 (six thousand eight hundred forty five) villages, consisting of 6,262 (six thousand two hundred sixty two) regular villages and around 593 (five hundred and ninety three) replication villages.
The Pamsimas II Program was implemented in 2013 to 2016. The Pamsimas II Program is targeted to be implemented in around 5000 villages in 32 provinces in 220 districts / cities.
